Cub Scout Pack 353

Webelos I are off and running or should I say swimming! The first activity completed as a den was Aquanautic. The scouts had to swim 100 feet, of which 50 feet had to be some type of backstroke. They also had to demonstrate some simple rescue methods and learned how to properly use a PFD. Coming up next will be the Pack Picnic where they will be participating in the Raingutter Regatta races. Later this month the boys will be working on the following activities; Citizen-Fitness- and prepare for the Pack campout at Bastrop State Park.

Next scheduled meeting is September 20th, 2:30-3:30ish at Nottingham Park on Rennie Rd.

Pack 353 will be recreating our award-winning Disabilities Booth that we hosted at the Scout Fair earlier this year for the "Step Into Scouting" membership drive this weekend.  The event will be held at the LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch in the central courtyard from 4pm to 8pm. The event will celebrate the fun that goes along with all kinds of scouting. Booths and demonstrations will highlight events that take place in Scouts including the Pinewood Derby, Rain Gutter Regatta, Popcorn Sales, and Girl Scout Cookie Sales, and a host of other activities.  The event will also benefit Katy Christian Ministries so we ask that everyone that comes bring a non perishable food donation.

We are asking that each Den take responsibility for helping host the booth according the following schedule:

Step Into Scouting (September 19th 4PM-8PM at LaCenterra)

Assignments to “man” the booth is as follows:
3:30-4:30              WEBELOS II         Set-Up
4:30-5:30              WEBELOS I         
5:30-6:30              BEARS (Den 6)
6:30-7:30              WOLVES
7:30-8:30              BEARS (Den 7)   Close and Break-Down

Here are our 2009 Summer Activities.  We hope everyone has a chance to come out and join us in these great events.  Remember that Scouts must attend at least three (3) activities this summer in order to be awarded the Summer Activities pin.  Be sure to remind your Den Leaders which events you attend too.  We look forward to seein' you around this summer at one of our fun Pack activities!!!

August 13th (Thursday)  6PM-8PM	Pack 353 Swim Party Join your Pack 353 friends splashing and having a great time at the Geri Ayers Pool in Green Trails Subdivision (off of Kingsland Blvd and Crescent Green); Place your order for pizza with Amy Kristynik; Bring your own beverages and desert to share with the Pack.  Enjoy!!!
Sept. 13th (Sunday) 1PM Gametime	Houston Astros vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (ASTROS SCOUT DAY & PARADE) Wear your Class A uniform and participate in a pre-game parade.  Meet at the ramp at Right Field.  All participants are to meet (with ticket) at the Right Field Entrance of the stadium no later than 11AM.  Tickets with Pack 353 require advance purchase of $13/each.  Contact Caroline Rudisill.  $$ must be collected prior to Pack Pool Party.  Go ASTROS!!!

**REMEMBER**  This is a great time to invite any potential Scouts to join our Pack!!!  We welcome anyone who has thought about Scouting and want to "check us out" to come and join us at any of our Pack's upcoming events. Please be sure to let us know when you bring a friend and their family so that we can introduce our Leaders and be available to answer any questions they may have about joining.
