Recognizing Success
Cub Scouts offers a wide range of learning and recognition opportunities. The list can be intimidating, but it is meant to provide each scout the opportunity to take initaitive in their areas of interest and earn recognition for their achievements. Some of these will be earned through the regular den meetings or scout camp programs, while others will require one-on-one time between the scout and the parent. In any event the goal is the same: help scouters be exposed to a wide variety of topics and allow them the chance to develop deeper understanding of those topics.
RANKS - The primary focus of scouting throughout the first part of the school year is earning the achievements necessary to earn to rank badge based on their grade level. There are a considerable amount of options that allow each scout and parent to select from so that they can find something that interests them which still learning the basics of scouting fundamentals.




Arrow Points - After earning the rank for Wolves and Bears, these two age groups can work on electives in order to earn "arrow points". For each 10 arrow points, the scout can earn one "arrow head" that can be worn below the rank badge on their uniform. Electives offer a great opportunity for scouts and parents to explore their interests in a fun and inspiring activities. Electives can be achieved multiple times if the scout finds that they are particularly interested in a topic. The standards for each of these awards are different based on the age of the cub scout allowing them to be reasonably achieved throughout their cub scouting career.


Belt Loops and Pins - Beyond the ranks and electives, scouters can earn "belt loops" or "pins" by meeting specific requirements in the sports and academic fields of study. Belt Loops can be worn on the cub scout belp to show that they have met the minimum requirements for that specialty. Pins are not to be worn on the uniform, but can be worn on the the optional vest or displayed at home.
Academics: Art, Astronomy, Chess, Citizenship, Collecting, Communicating, Computers, Geography, Geology, Heritages, Language and Culture, Map & Compass, Mathematics, Music, Science, Weather, Wildlife Conservation
Sports: Archery, BB Gun Shooting, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Bicycling, Bowling, Fishing, Flag Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Skating, marbles, Physical Fitness, Roller Skating, Snow Ski and Board Sports, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Ultimate, Volleyball
Special Awards for Cub Scouts - In addition to the above, the cub scout can earn special awards and/or patches that can help set them apart from the others. These awards require even more dedication and hard work as they represent some of the highest expectations and performance in cub scouting and often require other achievements to be earned as part of its minimum expectations.
- Outdoor Activity Award - Know the rules of the outdoors and participate in various outdoor activities.
- Emergency Preparedness Award - Be ready for the unexpected and know how to react.
- International Activity Badge - (Determined by Council) Be exposed to different countries, nationalities, and cultures.
- Interpreter's Strips - Be capable to provide verbal and written translation between multiple languages
- Leave No Trace Awareness - Demonstrate how to protect the environment by minimize our own impact on nature.
- Lifesaving and Meritorious Awards - National awards for unusual acts of heroism, skill, or bravery.
- Physical Fitness Award - Learn and demonstrate the benefits of physically active lifestyle.
- Recruiter Strip - Successfully recruiting a fiend, relative, classmate or others to join our unit.
- Religious Emblems - Complete your faith's requrieemnts to demonstrate that you have the knowledge and commitment to be faithful to your duty to God.
- Whittling Chip Card - "Temporary Patch" to demonstrate knowledge and commitment to safe knife handling.
- World Conservation Award - "Temporary Patch" to demonstrate a deep understanding of nature and how we can help conserve the environment.
